Stratford-Upon-Avon, Holy Trinity, Warwickshire, ****

Shakespeare is buried under an extremely modest tombstone, a simple slab on the ground with his famous curse: “Bleste be the man that spares these stones, and cursed be he that moves my bones.” All around the wealthy and forgotten are buried in splendour. I struggled photographing this church, ending up with just this one shot of the ghoulish faces on the misericords, as well as this tudor house along the same street as the church owned by Shakespeare’s daughter:
